Botox is one of the most effective and safe anti-aging treatments. It has been FDA approved since 2002 for both cosmetic and medical treatments and can be effectively used to help reduce wrinkles as well as to prevent the addition of others.
How Botox® works:
Botox is a neuromodulator that is a natural, purified protein administered to reduce the contractions of the muscles that cause wrinkles which can worsen over time.
Botox® works by relaxing the muscles treated, so wrinkles are relaxed and new wrinkles prevented. Botox® blocks the signal from the nerves that enable movement from the muscle. As the muscle can no longer move, wrinkles begin to soften, and new wrinkles are prevented from forming.
Botox® starts to work 72 hours after injection and goes into full effect in 2 weeks. Results can vary but typically may last 3-4 months.
Is Botox® right for me?
Ideal candidates for Botox® are otherwise healthy adults, who simply wish to correct noticeable signs of aging, especially on their face. Patients who have severe skin conditions or have had allergic reactions to other dermal fillers in the past, are generally not considered good candidates for BOTOX. Ultimately, a doctor will determine whether or not you are a good candidate for this procedure.
Botox® benefits include:
